It really is just so much. Spencer will so be missed. I will always remember his smile when I gave him rides during football season.

As tough as this year was, I do think I am a better person because of it. So good to hear from you. We definitely need to catch up. Our kids, man. Why are they just growing up before our eyes??

My gosh, SO MUCH. And yet, I know you, and I absolutely know that you are always one to rise up from whatever rubble you’re in and dust yourself off and carry on… a stronger and wiser woman than before. That IS you- and clearly, you have done just that in many different ways this year.

You work so hard in everything you do- and I’m sure you managed all the challenges and HARD changes (especially the break-up) with incredible strength. I’m thrilled for your new job and I’m always inspired by ALL the work you do for the people who need help most. I am also SO happy you were able to eliminate some toxic people in your life and feel the freedom of letting them go.

I’m mostly left with deep heartache about the tragic loss of Spencer Smith. My gosh, I can’t even imagine how difficult this was for his family and all the people who knew and loved him. That “Down in the valley”- oh my… just so incredibly beautiful and sad.

PS: My gosh, I can’t believe your boys are in 6th and 10th grade now! What is HAPPENING TO OUR KIDS?
